Online gaming: regulatory overview

An editorial orientation to online gaming claims and where their answers come from. No platforms are listed, linked, or recommended.

What this page is

This is an orientation, not a legal summary. It explains which questions matter when you encounter an online gaming or lottery platform aimed at UAE residents or visitors, and where the answers legitimately come from.

We do not state whether any particular activity is permitted. That determination belongs to the authorities and to qualified legal advice.

Why online claims need more scepticism, not less

An online platform can present a licence badge, a company name, and a jurisdiction without any of it being verifiable. A badge is an image; a licence is a record held by an issuing body.

Platforms marketed for one market are often licensed for another, or not at all. The name of the market a site advertises tells you nothing about where — or whether — it is licensed.

How to check an online platform's claims

Identify the exact licensing claim, the named issuing body, and the date. Then look for that record on the issuing body's own site. If you cannot find it, treat the claim as unverified.

Keep corporate registration separate from gaming licensing: a registered company is not a licensed operator.

What we do not publish here

We do not list, rank, review, or link to online gambling platforms. We publish no bonus offers, affiliate links, or sign-up guidance, and there is nothing to wager on anywhere on this site.
