Start with the claim, not the marketing
Write down the exact claim: who is said to hold what, issued by which body, and as of when. Vague claims such as "fully licensed" cannot be verified and should be treated as unverified.
Go to the issuing body
A licence claim is only supported if the body said to have issued it publishes a record you can find. Search the regulator's own site. A logo, certificate image, or third-party listing is not a record.
Keep licensing separate from operating status
A licensing record does not mean a venue is open, and an open venue does not by itself demonstrate a specific licence. We store and display these as two independent fields for exactly this reason.
Record what you found
Note the source title, the URL, and the date you checked. If you cannot find a record, the honest label is "not yet verified" — not "unlicensed", which is a different claim.
