Game guide

Baccarat

A comparing card game with fixed drawing rules and few player decisions.

How the game works

Two hands, commonly called player and banker, are dealt according to fixed rules. Participants bet on which hand will total closer to nine, or on a tie.

Because drawing is governed by the rules rather than choice, the game involves very little decision-making.

Probability concepts

The three main bets carry different house advantages, and the tie bet is typically the least favourable.

Commission on banker wins exists precisely because that hand wins slightly more often.
